Easy Breezy Beautiful Covered Windows

Lund In-Channel Window Vent Installation 3

I had ordered these Lund “In-Channel Window Vents” from Amazon here (Lund 183573). I hate the ones that sit over the window weather stripping but these “in-channels” were the e-ticket baby. I was really apprehensive about getting them because there were no damn pictures of it on a 4 door Nissan Frontier 2007. The 2007 Nissan Frontier has two separate windows (one fixed and one you can roll up) in the rear door. I was afraid it would look stupid, but I took the chance and ordered them anyway thinking at the very least I could keep the front ones. Luckily they really set the truck off.

They were super simple to put on, no drilling and no cutting. You gotta first prime the inner channels where the window rolls up between two pieces of rubber at the top. You need to use the included alcohol pads and the abrasive sponge to make a point of contact for the 3M adhesive strips on the vents.

The front ones go on without a hitch and are relatively straight forward. You remove the red covering tape to expose the adhesive strips on the very front of the vent and the very back. Then you roll back about 2 inches at the two ends of the top strip. You push it up into the window channel and once its snug, you pull the red tape out and that makes the adhesive tape come on evenly. Then roll up the window which holds it against the rubber weather strip.

The back ones were a little strange. Everything is exactly the same as the above, but there is a very thin tab at the rear of the vents. The rest of it goes into the window channel as the front ones, but this little end tab needs to go between the metal pillar and the rubber weather stripping against it. So the sandwich on this tab is metal pillar, rubber weather stripping, window channel, window, rubber weather stripping. Kinda weird but it works and makes for a very good water tight seal that way. You’ll want to leave the windows up for like 24-48 hours so that the 3M adhesive has adequate time to set.

And THATS IT! Yeaup took me maybe 30-45 minutes cause I was being super OCD about it. Here are the results. A closeup from the front:

I am all about conservative and stock look. Hate the gaudy, but these fit the lines of the truck just perfect I think. If you have a truck or SUV these are a must. They let you roll down the window about 1.5 inches without having to worry about the rain while driving. You can even leave em open to keep the car cool when parked. This is a damn necessity now that its starting to be summer here in Texas and those 110 degree temperatures start up.

Go pick yourself up a set, and again, if you have a 2007 Nissan Frontier SE Crew Cab (4 door), you’ll want Lund Model: 183573 “In-Channel Window Vent - 4 Piece” window vents.
